Tongtianluo Down Cave, popularly known as the “Grain Basket Looking to Heaven”, is a natural marvel found in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province of China. This unusual underground cave system is fashioned like a funnel and has a spectacular subterranean forest at its bottom, filled with lush foliage and exotic species that contributes to the cave’s breathtaking splendor.
Tongtianluo Down Cave is now restricted to the public for security concerns, and visitors can only stroll around the edge of the cave.
You must first receive authorisation and be fully equipped and trained before rappelling into the cave. Rappelling into the cave may be a dangerous activity, thus proper training and equipment are essential. Also, before attempting to enter the cave, verify the weather conditions, since heavy rain or other extreme weather might make the cave much more dangerous.
In 1988, Jim Goodbar becomes the first person to enter Tongtianluo Down Cave.
