Colorful Danxia Landform in Golden Rooster Mountain Park

March 26, 2023 3 Min Read

Jinji Ridge (also known as Golden Rooster Mountain) is seriously wacky – the cliffs are made of vibrant red sandstone that’s been shaped into all kinds of crazy formations by mechanical collapse, chemical erosion, and water erosion. It’s like a natural playground for Mother Nature!

Across from Golden Rooster Mountain Park, we’ve got this crazy cliff called Pai Gang, which is surrounded by steep and rocky walls. It’s all slanty and stuff, and it runs northwest like nobody’s business. The color contrasts of the cliffs, ranging from reds, oranges, yellows, and greens, create an awe-inspiring sight.

Jinji Ridge derives its name from a massive rock that resembles a rooster. You can view it from the northwest summit. And of cause it is the main attraction of the park.

We entered from the east gate and went straight to Jinji Rock via a lookout point. Then we doubled back down the valley to see the cliff carvings, Biedong cave, and went up to the mountain top to see the opposite “Paigang”. We went through “Yidian Tian” and linked up with various viewing points before returning to the east gate.
